Last year we tackled hardwood floors, tiling, painting, concrete counter tops, and a bathroom renovation. And by “we” I mean Ryan. I am super lucky to have married a handy man. The house now feels more like home, and more original. There is still a ton of work to do, but we’re determined to check some more major projects off the list.
Today we started on the front yard. It’s amazing how a little landscaping can completely change the look of your house. I’ve been obsessed with the show Curb Appeal on HGTV for a few weeks now. Unfortunately late last summer mother nature gave us a little nudge in our front yard reno by blowing over one of our largest trees (on my car!).
Ryan and our neighbor Josh attached a truck to a truck and pulled that sucker completely down. With the tree down, we felt the “opportunity” to basically gut the front yard and start over. Today we pulled up the boxwood shrubs that have probably been here since the house was built. Hopefully next week we’ll begin work on the deck and landscaping! But here’s some project “before” pics…hopefully I can post the “after” pics soon:
See that blue siding? That’s next on the project list. We are also looking into painting that dated red brick. This blog post has me a bit inspired, I just don’t know if we can pull it off in our neighborhood…stay tuned.
